IRWINDALE, California --The sponsor on the Vision Racing #72 was a question…. The fastest truck on the track on Saturday night certainly was not as the West Coast Pro Trucks competed at Irwindale Speedway 4/23/05 for their 3rd event of the 2005 season.
Ryan Black set fast time in qualifying with a fast lap of 20.066 in his Kuhn prepared Chevrolet followed closely by Aaron Staudinger turning in a best lap of 20.077 in his un-sponsored Vision Motorsports Chevrolet. The 2 drivers separated by only 1 hundredth of one second set the pace for a highly competitive feature adding to the anticipation of the drop of the green and the close racing the series has become known for.
In the 50 lap caution free main run under the threat of rain, it was all Staudinger. Starting from the outside of row 2 due to an invert, Staudinger quickly moved into the lead with an assertive move to the bottom in turns 3 and 4 during the first lap and never relinquished it, motoring to his 1st win of the 2005 season, and 17th series victory. “We missed the mark a bit in qualifying today” Aaron said after the race. “The other teams out here have had 3 races to prepare so we had some catching up to do as this was our first race of the season, so we had to knock some dust off and adapt to the conditions today to be competitive. I guess we did. A win is just the result we were looking for though, especially as we continue our search for a primary sponsor!”![]()
