
MADERA, California -- Defending Supermodified Racing League Champion Troy Regier of Dinuba, California is once again atop the SRL points standings after the season opener at Tucson Raceway Park. Regier scored 68 of a possible 72 points at TRP and leads A.J. Russell of Clovis by three points and Jim Birges of Fresno by eight points. There are three drivers (Mike Baisch, West Valley City, Utah; Ken Hamilton, Boise, Idaho; and Jeff Russell, Boise, Idaho) tied for fourth place at 58 points.
The next venue for the winged Roadsters is the Annual Vukovich Memorial at California’s Madera Speedway on May 14. In addition to the aforementioned competitors, SRL regulars Ricky Otts of Houston, Texas, George Greenway of
Tollhouse, California, Jim Pasquin of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mike McCann of Creswell, Oregon, Rick Cameron of Scotts Valley, California, and Bobby Dalton of San Martin, California are expected to compete at Madera. Others planning to appear include Rob Carlotto of Burney, California and Whitey Janssen of Newark, California. There are also several Englewood Racing Association teams from Colorado that may appear at the Central California banked oval including multi-time champions Harold Evans and Richie Castor as well as Harry Stone and David Klamm.
Madera Speedway has planned a Friday afternoon and evening practice on the thirteenth. The practice will be open to the public and there will be a meet and greet session with the drivers and a barbeque during the session.
