Chowchilla, Calif. (June 16) -- Taking the lead from Petaluma visitor Charley Campbell late in the race, point leader Mike Johnson scored the victory in the 20 lap RACE Modifieds Friday night at Chowchilla Speedway. Johnson's third feature win of the season came aboard his Randy Williams Property Maintenance sponsored Larkens Chassis as Paul Stone and Fred Lind finished second and third. Watsonville invaders topped the 20 lap Hobby Stock feature as Chad Bisordi held off his father Steve Bisordi Sr. for the victory. Point leader Red Williams finished third.

Tommy Bostic and Steven Williams shared the front row of the Modified feature with Champell starting tenth and Johnson 11th. Williams set the pace at the start ahead of Bostic and Lind. A low pass in Turn 2 gained Lind second with Dennis Clay getting by Bostic for third in Turn 4. The flying Campbell moved his Mooneyes Harris past Bob Williamson for fifth and used a low pass in Turn 4 of the fourth lap to take fourth from Bostic. A low pass in Turn 2 of the sixth lap gained Campbell third, and he took second from Lind a lap later with a high pass in Turn 4. A low pass in Turn 2 of the eighth lap gained Campbell the lead as Lind followed into second. Campbell held a straightaway advantage on Lind by lap 12 as Johnson was up to fourth.

Johnson made a traffic pass on Williams for third on lap 17 before Mark Condell spun in Turn 2 for a caution flag. There seemed to be a bit of confusion on the first restart attempt as Lind took the lead over Campbell and Johnson, but there was contact between Campbell and Lind on the back stretch that resulted in a Williams spin. Johnson led the second attempt at a restart ahead of Stone and Campbell as Lind spun in Turn 2. Campbell took second from Stone on a lap 19 restart before driving off the track in Turn 2.

As Johnson brought it home a happy winner, Lind pressured Stone for second, but it was Stone beating Lind to the line for the runnerup spot as Campbell, Williams, Bob Williamson, Clay, Condell, Robby Jeppesen and Bostic rounded out the top ten.

Danny Holcomb and Dale Falkenberg shared the front row of the 17 car Hobby Stock feature with Williams third and C. Bisordi fourth. Holcomb set the early pace ahead of Williams and C. Bisordi. A high pass in Turn 4 of the fourth lap gained Williams second, and a low pass in Turn 3 a lap later gained Williams the lead with C. Bisordi following into second. 12th starting S. Bisordi settled into fourth on a lap six caution flag for Roger Dory. Williams led the pack for the restart with C. Bosordi second over Holcomb. Williams put a lap on the night's National Anthem singer Corrie Stone, who was making her division debut, on lap 11. A high pass in Turn 1 of the 13th lap gained C. Bisordi the lead. Glen Ford pitted from sixth on lap 14, and Stone stalled on the front stretch for a lap 18 caution flag. Holcomb pitted from third with a flat to give the position to S. Bisordi, and Holcomb gave Stone a push back to her pits. C. Bisordi led the restart with S. Bisordi putting the moves on Williams for second. C. Bisordi would bring it home to a well earned victory ahead of S. Bisordi, Williams, Holcomb, Mike Meazell, Falkenberg, Johnny Howard, Charles Seals, Sydney Finn and Matt Borges.

The 12 Modifieds ran two six lap qualifying heat races with wins going to Johnson and Clay. Campbell won the four lap trophy dash. There were 18 Hobby Stocks on hand, and the three six lap qualifying heat wins went to Meazell, Finn and Williams. Meazell also captured his second four lap trophy dash win of the season.####
