
LINCOLN, California -- Reigning USAC Valvoline Western Sprint Car Champion is set to compete in this years 57th Annual Little 500 in Anderson, IN.
Hunt has competed in the last three events at the famed Anderson Speedway 3/8 mile high banked oval. In his first year of competition at the legendary event Hunt finished 4th and received the Rookie of the Year award. He then went on to score a 2nd place finish in 2003 and 3rd in 2004.
Hunt a 4-Time USAC Title Champion will pilot the Goacher Racing #5 sponsored by Deco Enterprises / Thompson's Toyota / Cromer Racing / Justice Brothers / Eagle / Wesmar.
The format of the 57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 is unique to Sprint Car racing. The starting grid is comprised of thirty-three cars in 11 rows of three, which is made up of two qualifying rounds. As many as fifty drivers will try to secure a starting spot with a four lap average speed as there qualifying time. Two mandatory pits stops are required during the challenging 500-lap event. Billed as the most entertaining event in auto racing, fans will be filled with anticipation in the most exciting start to a racing event.
This United States Auto Club has designed this historic event as a special sanctioned race and a record purse of nearly $123,000 is scheduled to be awarded in the richest asphalt Sprint Car race in America.
Activities for the 57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 kick off on Wednesday, May 25, with practice beginning at 11:15 a.m. EST with First Round qualifying starting at 1:30 pm EST on Thursday. On Saturday, May 28, the 57th Pay Less / Remy International Little 500 green flag waves at 8 p.m.
Hunt's season will continue with his title defense in the USAC Valvoline Western Sprint Series along with a limited schedule in the USAC Western Midget Series on pavement.
