After an exciting night of racing at Irwindale Speedway, George Ruark, 43, from Hemet, Calif. took home with a top five finish of the season.
Ruark qualified eighth early in the day, after running second fast during practice. He held the fourth position through most of the race before his right front tire began to go flat during the last laps of the 50-lap race.
“We feel like we have a really good car,” Ruark said. “It’s the car we have had all year but this time the breaks went our way and we stayed out of trouble. We’re pretty happy about it.”
Ruark added that the support of his sponsors, GR Underground, Kasco Pipe and Supply, Utility Vault Company and Barker’s Auto Body throughout the season has been positive on the team.
“We feel like we got everything back on track and we’ll start having good finishes again and having our sponsors stick through some of our early bad luck this season was incredible,” Ruark said. “Our luck has turned around now.”
This weekend, Ruark also had the opportunity to test his Southwest Tour Car, which he will be racing on a limited schedule this year.
Ruark returns to Irwindale Speedway June 4, 2005 in the #19 Late Model for Twin Fifty races.
