TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- With Kevan Larson and Jason Whited tied for the lead in the points standing going into the race at the Magic Valley Speedway Saturday night, it was Kristie Feheringer who stole the spotlight from the boys again ringing up her second main event win in two weeks.
This time Feheringer had to make the most of all her driving abilities as she had to work her way up through the field from her starting position at the back of the pack in order to come away with the victory. Josh Pitz had maintained the lead from lap ten but a caution with six laps to go in the race had Feheringer taking the outside lane on the re-start which she was then able to win the battle with Pitz to the finish line by a slim margin of less than half a second.
"I prefer the inside lane but if you got to go to the outside then that's what you have to do," explained Feheringer. "I've gone to the outside the last couple of races and my car seems to handle ok there."
Thunder Stock driver Desi Ahrens found his way into the winner's circle once again as he was able to hold off Craig Nuthak who had made a hard charge to the front of the field to challenge Ahrens. Ahrens was up to the battle however and was able to hold off Nuthak long enough to chalk up his third win of the season.
A third driver to register a repeat victory this year was Grand National driver Jerry McKean as McKean went from last to first in the forty lap main event.
Trophy dash winner Jeff Pohlman had maintained the lead for the first twenty laps but then was overcome by the quickly gaining vehicles of Louis Lopez and McKean. Lopez was able to grasp the lead for eight laps but McKean then decided to take charge of the situation in the final ten laps allowing McKean the chance to once again deliver his victory speech.
Premier division driver Rob Vest didn't think his chances were too good going into the race Saturday night but Vest fought his way up through the pack and a sly decision by Vest to take the high-side lane on a re-start at lap 27 played right into his hands. Vest was able to protect his lead over a very competitive Mike Buddenhagen who applied all the pressure he could to Vest, but ran out of laps.
"I didn't want to see anybody else up there with me, especially Mike," explained Vest. "He was fast."
Vest was able to hold off Buddenhagen long enough to make his first appearance in victory lane this season.
The trailer racers preformed their usual high-impact entertainment with twenty-two drivers doing their usual excellent job at leaving the track in ruins. Jeremy Morris was declared king of the trailer trash after an excellent second effort to remove himself from another trailer he had somehow gotten tangled with in turn one.
