SELLERS, DEINY AND CHARLES TOP DIVISION I POINT STANDINGS

NASCAR DODGE WEEKLY SERIES

Call it a soft landing. NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division I points leader Peyton Sellers, of Danville, Va., finished eighth last Saturday night at South Boston (Va.) Speedway, while rival Frank Deiny Jr. was busy collecting his third win at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va.

Despite Deiny’s victory, which came against a field of 22 cars and therefore earned him 20 bonus points according to NASCAR’s formula, Sellers kept his hold on the Divisional standings by a 122-point margin.

Tom Charles, a resident of Bonner Springs, Kan. who competes at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., sits in third place, 320 points behind.

Charles might be a distant third to Sellers, but he is in the middle of his own points battle against fellow Lakeside Modified racer Tim Karrick, of Basehor, Kan. Karrick and Charles both compete at Lakeside as well as nearby Linn County Speedway in Pleasanton, Kan. Karrick, the reigning Modified track champion at Lakeside, won there Friday night and again at Linn County on Saturday, but still trails Charles by 18 points in the Division I standings.
