IRWINDALE, California -- George Ruark, 43, was awarded the Hard Charger award in the second of Late Model Twin 50’s at Irwindale Speedway Saturday night.
Ruark started the GR Underground Chevrolet twentieth and finished sixth. This is his third top ten finish in a row.
During the first of the two 50 lap races, Ruark got caught up in a collision. He finished the race fourteenth. The crew worked tirelessly and prepared the car for the second race where Ruark drove up the field from twentieth to sixth.
“There are great drivers out here and it’s hard to get up through this field,” said Ruark. “We are very fortunate to have great sponsors and a great crew.”
The night moved Ruark up two positions in the 2005 Irwindale Speedway Late Model points standings.
Ruark will race the GR Underground Late Model next June 18. He will also race his GR Underground Southwest Tour Car for the first time at Irwindale Speedway June 18.
“We are looking forward to June 18,” Ruark said. “It will be an exciting night for Ruark Racing.”
There are nine more Late Model races this season at Irwindale Speedway.
