IRWINDALE, California -- Jimmy Sloan, 23, of Ruark Racing was the first Super Stock across the finish line Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway.
Sloan qualified the GR Underground Super Stock second and due to the drawn inversion, started the race on the pole. He then led every lap of the race before finishing first. Sloan also ran the fastest lap of the race.
“It was a great night for us,” Sloan said. “We are looking forward to more wins.”
This win moves Sloan to second place in the Irwindale Speedway Super Stock points standings for this year’s championship.
Due to Larry Sampson’s unfortunate accident and the already late night, the race was cut short, from the usual forty laps to only twenty.
“We really hope Larry is okay,” said Sloan. “Everyone hates to see a wreck like that.”
This is Sloan’s fourth top five finish in a row. He has finished top ten in every race this season.
“We are all very happy with Sloan’s progress,” said car owner George Ruark. “He is having a great season and we all looking forward to his next few races.”
Sloan will race the GR Underground Super Stock at Irwindale
Speedway again June 25. There are eight more Super Stock races at
Irwindale Speedway this season.![]()
