Premier Series driver Rob Vest added to his point lead in the division Saturday night at the Magic Valley Speedway by finding his way to his second consecutive win. The weather conditions, which were less than favorable to many, were just to Vest’s liking. “The cold weather is better for us,” said Vest. “The car just seems to work better out there.” Vest also had the fortune of not being involved in a starting lap confrontation between the cars of Dale Rogers and Rod Kack in turn three. Mike Buddenhagen received damage to his car trying to avoid the accident and neither he nor Kack could make it back on the track to continue in the race. Mike Greco had held a twelve-lap lead in his late model car in the early stages of the race but could not hold on long enough as Vest definitely had the car to beat for the night. Steve Jones and TJ Woodhall, sporting a new color scheme on his car, crossed the finish line just behind Vest in the fifty lap main event. The Grand National division saw a now familiar face in the winners circle as Jerry McKean scored another victory as he took the high lane on an early restart and was then able to cruise his way around the track for the next twenty-five laps without ever encountering a challenge for the lead. The Race trucks made their third appearance this year at the speedway and welcomed the third winner of the season to victory lane. After a rough start involving the trucks of Ken Kennedy and Eric Jensen on the backstretch, the race proceeded caution free after the restart. Dan Koyle was able to pull off the win over Dick Capps who had maintained the lead for over twenty laps before Koyle took over the lead with five laps left to go in the race. The weather conditions also presented a challenge to Koyle but he was to make things work to his advantage. “I didn’t know what the truck was going to do out there tonight,” said Koyle. “We just made some adjustments and we managed to pull it out.”####
