Jimmy Sloan, 23, of Palm Desert, Calif. won his second Super Stock race with the GR Underground Super Stock at Irwindale Speedway in a row Saturday.
Sloan has led every lap of the Irwindale Super stock’s last two races. After qualifying first Saturday night Sloan started on pole. He then led all forty laps to win.
“It was an incredible feeling,” Sloan said. “My crew worked really hard to get my car as good as it is and it paid off for all of us.”
Sloan is currently second in points standings at Irwindale. Saturday’s win helped him gain ten points on the leader.
“Jimmy is doing a great job,” said car owner George Ruark. “I could not be happier with his progress throughout the season. He is a great driver.”
Sloan also ran the fastest lap of the race and managed to lap several cars in the 40 lap race. He finished over half a second before second place.
This is Sloan’s second season racing at Irwindale Speedway. He also raced the GR Underground Super stock last season.
Sloan will race next July 2, 2005. There are seven more races Super Stock races at Irwindale this season.
