NASCAR AUTOZONE ELITE DIVISION, SOUTHEAST SERIES “CHARLIE DANIELS FALL CLASSIC 150”

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida --When the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southeast Series rolls into Kentucky Speedway for the Sept. 10 Charlie Daniels Fall Classic 150, they’ll have some company. The 10th race on the 2005 Southeast Series schedule will now award championship points for the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Midwest Series.

An open weekend on the Midwest Series schedule has prompted NASCAR and Kentucky Speedway officials to enhance the event to award Midwest Series points. The move gives Midwest Series competitors an extra incentive and opportunity to compete on the 1.5-mile superspeedway. Midwest Series and Southeast Series race cars are identical, working from the same rule book as part of the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division.

The highest-finishing Midwest Series driver will be credited with a Midwest Series victory and receive first-place points towards the Midwest Series championship, regardless of their overall finish in the event. The second highest-finishing Midwest Series driver will receive second-place points and so on. Likewise, the highest-finishing Southeast Series driver will be credited with a Southeast Series victory and receive first-place points towards the Southeast Series championship, and so on.

Drivers will be credited with championship points for their respective series, based on whichever series they have previously obtained a NASCAR license for. Drivers will not be credited with championship points outside their “home” series for which they are licensed for.

The Southeast Series has raced at Kentucky Speedway, located in Sparta, Ken., since the track opened in 2000. Jeff Fultz, a native of nearby Cincinnati, Ohio, leads all Southeast Series drivers with four wins at the track. The Sept. 10 event, which marks the Southeast Series’ 10th visit to Kentucky Speedway, will be highlighted by a pre-race concert performance by the Charlie Daniels Band.####
