DAYTONA BEACH, Florida-- Peyton Sellers drove to two NASCAR Late Model Stock Car victories last week and maintained his lead in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division I standings. Sellers, of Danville, Va., raced at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, N.C. on Wednesday, July 6 as part of the track’s 40th anniversary celebration.

The special midweek event attracted a field of 36 cars, including NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader Dennis Setzer, a former Caraway competitor, along with many of the area’s top Late Model Stock Car drivers who don’t normally race at Caraway. The track is included in NDWS Division I and Seller’s win added 50 NASCAR points to his season total, along with 20 bonus points for competing in a field with so many cars. In addition, the superb result enabled Sellers to drop one of his poorer finishes from his divisional record, as the NASCAR title will be award based on a driver’s best 16 finishes of the season.

Sellers returned to his home track, South Boston (Va.) Speedway, on Saturday and collected his seventh victory there over Morris Ramsey.

Elsewhere in Division I, Tim Karrick continued his hot streak in the Jayhawk State, winning last Friday night’s Dirt Modified feature race at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. Karrick, of Basehor, Kan., advanced to second in the divisional standings and is also ranked third as the top driver from Linn County Speedway in Pleasanton, Kan.

Karrick’s results bumped Sellers’ in-state rival, Frank Deiny Jr., from second place to fourth in the Division I rankings this week.
