IRWINDALE, California -- George Ruark, 43, of Hemet, Calif. was awarded the hard charger award at Irwindale Speedway for his driving in the late model race Saturday night.
Ruark moved up seven positions in the forty lap race, finishing with another top ten which moved him up another position in the points standings.
"The other drivers in this division are very competitive so to be named hard charger against a group of drivers like this is an honor," Ruark said. "My crew worked really hard and I'm pleased to have had such a good car."
This is Ruark's second hard charger award this season. He also won the award in the second of twin fifty races at Irwindale Speedway on June 4.
"He drove so well," said fellow Ruark Racing Driver Jimmy Sloan. "He handled the car very well and it paid off."
Ruark will race the #19 Late Model again July 23, 2005 and the #8 Southwest Tour car in August of this year. There are five more late model points races and two more open races at Irwindale this season.
