REUTIMANN’S SET TO KEEP STREAK ALIVE AT IRP

CLERMONT, Indiana --After three top-five finishes in a row, David Reutimann is only 15 points out of fifth-place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings leading into the Power Stroke Diesel 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park Friday night.

“We need to try to get back in the top-five in points to have a remote shot at the championship,” said Reutimann, who occupies seventh-place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings. “We’ve never counted ourselves out of anything. We’re going to keep trying to do what we are doing and focus on our deal. I feel like we can get there. Our team’s running really well. I have a lot of confidence in everything that’s going on. We’re not changing anything. Hopefully, we’ll keep getting the same results.”

Fresh off his career-best finish with second-place at Memphis Motorsports Park, Reutimann takes the same No. 17 NTN Bearings Toyota Tundra truck to IRP.

“We’re bringing the truck that we ran at Memphis to IRP,” said Reutimann. “Last year at IRP, we were pretty good in practice, but during the race we were bad. No matter what we did to the truck, we couldn’t make it better. We struggled the entire race and ended up with a 17th-place finish. We couldn’t put our finger on it. We’re going there with a different truck and a different attitude. I think we’ll run better.”

After recording three top-five finishes and five top-ten finishes, Reutimann’s currently the top Toyota driver in points.

“To be the top Toyota team is big for us because there are a lot of good Toyota teams,” said Reutimann. “We’ve got to stay there. We still have our work cut out for us because the Toyota teams are good and they are going to continue to get better.”

Reutimann attributes his success to a solid team and so does his team owner.

“The Darrell Waltrip Motorsports team is doing a phenomenal job,” said Reutimann. “I feel confident that Jason Overstreet is making good calls. The pit stops are great. All that stuff is coming together and we’re running well. We have a top caliber team and it's obvious. I’m pretty proud of everybody. Everything is falling into place for us. I’m hoping we can do more of the same at IRP this week.”

"I'm really proud of the team," said Darrell Waltrip. "Things are really coming together for the guys and it shows on the racetrack. David's pounding on the door for his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory and I expect him to kick that door in soon."

Live race coverage of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Indianapolis Raceway Park Friday, August 5th begins at 8 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel. MRN Radio will broadcast the event.
