BILL LESTER / BILL DAVIS RACING INDY RACING PREVIEW

Bill Davis Racing Event Preview Race/Date: Power Stroke Diesel 200– Aug. 5, 2005

Location: Indianapolis Raceway Park, Indianapolis

NOTES:

  • This week’s race truck for Indianapolis Raceway Park is Chassis No. 22-52. This truck set a new track record at Kentucky Speedway earlier this year.
  • Welcome Aboard… Crown Royal will act as the primary sponsor of the No. 22 Bill Davis Racing Toyota Tundra this weekend in Indianapolis. This will be the first of four events in which the company will serve as the principal sponsor of the No. 22 Tundra. The company also has an association with Roush Racing and the No. 97 car in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. The Crown Royal brand is the industry leader in dark spirits.
  • Hitting Their Marks… After 14 races in 2004, the No. 22 team was 21st in the point standings with only one top-10 to its credit. At the same point this year, the team has two top-10 finishes to go along with two consecutive pole positions. The team holds down the 18th spot in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point standings, only 265 points out of 10th place.
  • Tested and Approved… The No. 22 Crown Royal Tundra team tested at Caraway Speedway on Monday, Aug. 1 in preparation for Friday night’s event at IRP.
  • Gail Davis’ ride with Petty & Friends … Last weekend, Gail Davis took to the open road to join the 2005 Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. This was Gail’s 10th trip with the Petty entourage, which embarked on its 11th- annual ride across the country to help raise money and awareness for children’s charities. The ride started in Lake Oswego, Ore., Saturday, July 23, and concluded at the Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C., July 31. To learn more, go to www.kylepettycharityride.com.
  • Listen and Watch … Power Stroke Diesel 200 is scheduled to start at 8:45 p.m. ET Friday, Aug. 5. It will broadcast LIVE on Speed (TV), MRN (radio) and XM Radio 144.

Bill Davis Racing Quotes:
Bill Lester on racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park:
“The bar continues to be raised in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Toyota has definitely caught the attention of the other manufacturers. NASCAR was once the domain of the ‘Big Three,’ but Toyota’s here now, and I think Toyota’s here to stay. I hear from friends of mine on some of the other Tundra teams that Toyota’s support has increased from last year. And I even think that the people at the different Toyota teams are talking more this year than we did a year ago.

“We’ve demonstrated that we can run up front, and we’ve gotten a couple pole positions at Kansas and Kentucky. There’s no question that we have speed. Putting together some more good finishes is just a matter of everybody being on their game at the right time, staying out of trouble on the track, making adjustments when we need to and making sure when we come in the pits, the pit stops are spot-on. It’s just a matter of everything coming together. Some of those things that you don’t really have control over, and others are things that we think are going to be in our favor.”

Crew chief Doug Wolcott on racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park:
“Indianapolis Raceway Park is going to be a challenge for my team. We have not had the success on the short tracks this year, but we have been working hard to try and find a combination that Lester feels comfortable with. We tested at Caraway Speedway on Monday, and I think we found some things that will help us in the race. We need a solid finish in order to get our team back on track. We have made some gains, but our goal is to be in the top 10 in points at the end of the season. I think we can still attain this goal, but everyone is going to have to be on their game each week in order for us to get back in contention.”
