RINGERS GLOVES WEEKEND WRAP-UP

MOORPARK, Califorina -- When NASCAR rolls into town, Indianapolis always has many race happenings during Brickyard weekend.

NASCAR action kicked off on Friday with the Craftsman Truck Series drivers dueling it out in the Power Stroke Diesel 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP).

The No. 77 Jasper Engines Dodge Ringers supported team of Orleans Racing and driver Brendan Gaughan completed all 200 laps, occasionally running in the top five, posting an eighth place finish in the end.

His teammate, Steve Park, in The Orleans Dodge didn’t have as much luck. He ran out of fuel about 60 laps away from the finish, went 11 laps down waiting for help to his pit stall and never came back, ending up 30th in the finishing order.

Billy Ballew Motorsports continued to interchange drivers at the IRP race with John Andretti behind the wheel at this event.

Unfortunately, Andretti was involved in an accident early on and was the first truck out of the race. He finished 36th.

Next up was the Busch Series on Saturday night for the Kroger 200 to close out the Kroger Speedfest activities at IRP.

These drivers, protected with UnderX by Ringers, all finished the race; David Stremme, fifth; Paul Menard, seventh; J.J. Yeley, 13th; Tony Stewart, 23rd and Tracy Hines, who also ran the Truck race, finished 24th.

The teams of Penske Racing South took on the 2.5-mile track of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

While Ryan Newman had a great qualifying effort, starting sixth, his day didn’t turn out the way he had probably hoped. Throughout the day, handling problems overwhelmed the No. 12 Alltel Dodge forcing him two laps down and when the checkers flew, Newman was scored 34th.

His other two teammates, Rusty Wallace and Travis Kvapil, didn’t have a good day either, finishing 25th and 37th, respectively.
