MONROE, Washington -- The Turn 1 Energy Drink presented by QFC Night at the Races at Evergreen Speedway had both Shane and Pete Harding on the podium. Shane the Speedway Chevrolet NASCAR Super Stock point leader stood atop the podium after his seventh win. Pete Harding, Shane’s dad, finished the NASCAR Auto Zone Elite Division Northwest Series in third for his second podium finish this season at Evergreen.

The night for the Super Stocks started off with a four car winner take all 6-lap Dash for Cash. The dash normally is for $250 but with many businesses and fans contributing the purse grew to a whopping $2,020. It was a spirited contest with rookie Naima Lang hanging on to get the big money. Lex Johnson did not make it easy for Lang as he tried and tried to pass Lang. Each time Lang was able to stand up to the challenge. The other two in the race Shane Harding and Rob Touche were not a factor at the end with Touche on pit road after hitting the wall and Harding conserving his equipment for the 75-lap main.

The Wired X 3000 Super Stock 75-lap main on the Super Big 5/8-mile oval had the two point leaders once again getting to the front and keeping everyone on the edge of their seats to the finish. Jason Fraser, second in points, went to the lead early. The lead seemed to be one that no one would be able to match. A yellow flag brought the field up to Fraser’s bumper and on the restart and the first car in the line behind Fraser was point leader Shane Harding. Fraser kept Harding at bay for a good portion of the second half of the main. With 10-laps to go Fraser went into turn one high to pass a lapped car. The lapped car did not stay low and ended up right in front of Fraser. Harding took advantage of the situation by going low and getting the lead. With Harding out front Fraser was unable to get back to the lead and had to settle for yet another second. Harding took the checkers for the seventh time in fourteen starts and padding his slim point lead by 2-points. With 4-races remaining this season Harding holds a 16-point lead over Fraser. Doug Davidson finished a strong third ahead of Gaylon Stewart.

The Turn One Energy Drink 125 presented by QFC for the NASCAR Auto Zone Elite Division Northwest Series was won by Snohomish, Washington’s John Bender with series point leader Jeff Jefferson of Naches, Washington second. Not able to match his son’s win as he did back in July, Pete Harding Surrey B.C. Canada was back on the podium with a third place finish as he came from deep in the field after a poor qualifying effort.

Next up at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday August 20 will be a Super ‘7’ Division night at the races. Back on the 3/8-mile the Speedway Chevrolet Super Stocks will be joined by the Les Schwab Bombers and Mini-Stocks. Also three divisions of Figure Eights continue the chase to their respective championships. Super, Extreme Contact and Stinger 8’s will keep the intersection of the Figure Eight a busy place. The crowd pleasing Hertz Equipment Rental Hornets will be on the 1/5-mile oval to round out the seven divisions. All the action starts at 7pm with front gates opening at 4pm.
