TWO RACES, TWO STATES: SPENCER CLARK PULLS DOUBLE DUTY THIS WEEKEND; NEW WEST SERIES PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCED

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Spencer Clark will travel fast this weekend. The 18-year-old will compete in the NAPA Auto Parts 150 NASCAR West Series race presented by NAPA Belts & Hose at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colo. and the Super Late Model race at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nev. Clark’s start in the West Series race will mark his fourth this season and his first with new car owner Clay Andrews and crew chief Travis Sharpe.

Clark will start his weekend Saturday at PPIR to practice and qualify his No. 23 Allegiant Air Chevrolet for the 150-lap NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series race. At the completion of his qualifying run, Clark will jet back to his hometown of Las Vegas to defend his seven-point lead over Mike Cofer in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series 50-lap Super Late Model race. Clark regained the division point lead last week after earning his sixth win this season.

“This is my third year in Super Late Models at the Bullring. To finally be a contender for the championship is important to me as a driver, it would be an awesome ending for the season and a huge momentum into repeating a championship in the West Series with our new team,” Clark said.

Saturday at midnight, Clark will return to Colorado to drive for new car owner Andrews. The partnership between Clark and Clay Andrews Racing yields a full-time two-car sponsorship for the 2006 West Series season. While Clark will remain in the No. 23 Allegiant Air Chevrolet, Andrews will drive the No. 69 Rich’s Motorsports-sponsored Monte Carlo. In addition, the team has plans to enter Clark in three NASCAR Busch Series events next season.

“I am looking forward to next year. Clay Andrews is giving me a great opportunity to get more experience and hiring some really good people,” Clark said. “I feel that Clay is providing me with all the best tools a team could have.

“I have never been to PPIR, but I heard it is a great track and I cannot wait to compete there,” Clark said.

The NAPA Auto Parts 150 NASCAR West Series race presented by NAPA Belts & Hose at Pikes Peak International Raceway is scheduled to begin at 4:15 (approx.) Mountain time Sunday and the Super Late Model race at the Bullring is scheduled to begin at 9:20 p.m. PST Saturday.####
