After a week off, the Carriker Ford Southern Iowa Speedway was back in action Wednesday with the USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series. The evening was sponsored by Oskaloosa Gas & Oil Company, with three classes in action.

The first feature was the USRA Modified feature running 15 laps with Terry Walker of Riverside taking the race lead and leading until motor trouble ended his night. This turned the lead over to Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon, who led through lap 14 when motor problems ended his night, turning the lead over to Mike Hughes of Rose Hill, who took the checkers with Rick Gustin of Marshalltown taking second after starting 12th. Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon finished third and Ron VerBeek of Oskaloosa was fourth.

The second feature was the USRA Hobby Stock main event going 15 laps with Ryan Lundy of Knoxville leading the way, but Colt Mather of Webster was working his way from the 24th starting spot and took the lead with four laps remaining to take his fourth straight win, keeping the streak alive. Lundy took second with Steve Landgrebe of Oskaloosa in third and Jimmy Hayes of Moravia winding up fourth.

The final event of the night was a thriller in the 18-lap USRA Stock Car feature with Brian Edel of Oskaloosa taking his first win of the 2005 season. The early part of the feature saw Brian Mitrisin of Oskaloosa and Lorne Parks of Ottumwa battle for the top spot with Mitrisin taking the lead. Several drivers battled for the lead with Jim Brown of Fremont in the hunt along with Brandon Bandstra of Lynnville and Brad Pinkerton. Pinkerton's #17p machine developed a smoking problem, causing the black flag to be displayed. This gave the lead to Edel who worked his way from the 14th starting spot for the win. Brown was second, followed by Bandstra in third and Mitrisin in fourth.

Next week's USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series action will be sponsored by Carriker Ford, with four classes in action as the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks will join the USRA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and the racing action starts at 7:30.
