
SAN BERNARDINO, California -- The ASA Super Late Models are the featured division at Orange Show Speedway this Saturday night when the premiere division returns to action. The Grand American Modifieds make their second appearance of 2005 with Oceanside resident Dean Kuhn looking to back up his main event win on July 23rd. Also on tap this Saturday will be the ASA Late Models, ASA Sport Trucks, the Mini-StocKars and their companions the Jr. Mini-StocKars.
The NOS Events Center, Orange Show Speedway and the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties have teamed up to create the OSS Drivers’ Relief Donor Club to help increase our communities’ blood reserves. The OSS Driver’s Relief Donor Club has been created to provide drivers, family members, fans, and anyone else associated with local racing assistance in times of need by providing blood for patients in our community. Individuals giving blood will receive a voucher good for one adult admission to the Orange Show Speedway as a thank-you for saving lives. Donate blood and support your favorite driver August 8 through August 27.
Ramona resident John Manke is the current ASA Super Late Model point leader with Lakesides Ron Overman a mere two points back in second. These two drivers have battled back and forth for several weeks now with only four points paying events remaining in 2005. Riverside’s Mark Shackelford sits in third place, 36 points back.
Palmdale’s Richard Hooper, a veteran racer with many years of experience at OSS fought his way into victory lane on August 6th and will be looking to back up his first main event win of 2005 this Saturday. Dave Arce, Santee, is the current point leader in the championship point’s race, two points back in second is rookie Anthony Maniella, from Palmdale. Maniella. Hooper is third only fourteen points back of the leader with four events left on the 2005 schedule.
The ASA Sport Trucks return to battle it out on the high-banked ¼ mile asphalt track this Saturday with Ed Reid leading the championship point battle by ten points over Corona resident Jim Belter. Spencer Samora is third in points with five events remaining on the schedule for this season.
Also on tap for Saturday will be the Mini-StocKars and their companion division the Jr. Mini-StocKars. Mike Brown and his brother John, both of Barstow are first and second in the season long championship points separated by only two points. Hesperia resident Kyle McGrady is in the lead for the championship title in the Jr. Mini-StocKar division by holds a fourteen points. McGrady is only twelve years old.
Spectator gates open at 5:00 pm and racing action gets underway at 6:30 pm. Admission will be $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for seniors & military, $2.00 for juniors 6 to 12 and children under 5 are FREE.
Orange Show Speedway is conveniently located on the NOS Events Center, home of the National Orange Show Festival in San Bernardino, California. Take the 215 freeway, exit at the Orange Show Road and go north on E Street approximately one half mile to Mill Street.
