16 NAPA TEAM MAKES THE CLIMB TO THE PEAK

Antelope-CA- Steve Portenga and the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS/NAPA Belts & Hose head east to Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR) for the NAPA AUTO PARTS 150 presented by NAPA Belts & Hose. This will be the first time in six years that the West Series has raced at PPIR. The NAPA team last visit was in 1999 and finish 3rd with driver Sean Woodside. The team went on to win their first of three series championship later that year.

The #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS team is on an upwards move in the chase for the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series championship and is now only 9 points out of third. Portenga and the NAPA team would like to take home the win for their sponsors, NAPA AUTO PARTS and NAPA Belts & Hose. Previous NASCAR West Series winners at PPIR include NAPA driver Michael Waltrip and RCR driver Kevin Harvick.

“The #16 NAPA team is well prepared for the 1-mile track at PPIR”, said Portenga. “The team has the best finishing record at PPIR of teams still competing in the series. We look to better that and close the gap substantially between us and the point leader, Scott Lynch.”

The NAPA 150 presented by NAPA Belts & Hose at Pikes Peak International Raceway will be a companion race to the Honda Indy 225 IRL® IndyCar® Series race event on Sunday, August 21st. The NAPA 150 presented by NAPA Belts & Hose can be seen Live on HDNET following the IRL race. Check your local listings.
