RMR WELCOMES CAIN MOTORSPORTS AND WINSTON WEST

It's hard to believe it's almost Labor Day and summer is just about over. To help kick off the fall season, Rocky Mountain Raceways is holding their biggest event of the year, the Bank One 250. A track representative said on Monday, August 30th, that they have been looking forward to having the Winston West drivers come to town all year, and now its finally time! Jerry Cain, #71, and his team are ready for the trip, and are looking forward to the 250-lap race, presented by Pacific Coast Building Products and PPG Automotive Finishes, which occurs on Monday, September 6th. The race will be televised later in the month on September 25th, on a CBS-affiliate that broadcasts in Utah and parts of Nevada, Idaho, and Wyoming.

Rocky Mountain Raceways offers a 3/8 mile banked asphalt oval track, with 5 degree banking in the straight-aways, and 7-11 degree banking in the turns. The 72 acre facility was refurbished and reopened in 1998, and includes the oval track, a figure eight track, and a NHRA dragstrip. The new racetrack has made a dramatic impact on the popularity of racing in the state of Utah as it provides a safe, clean, family-oriented facility, which is used, for a multitude of events.

"This will be another first for us, as we have not been at this track before," said Jerry Cain, #71.

"I have had a crash course (excuse the phrase) this year learning the tracks in the Winston West Series. Most all of them have been new to me. The oval at Rocky Mountain Raceways looks to be very challenging, as it is a small, tight track, only 3/8 mile."

Jerry and his team are hoping for a good ending in Utah. Having battled with car trouble and plain old bad luck during the last two races, they would love to have a good finish. "

The team has remained supportive and positive toward each race throughout the season. We take them one race at a time, and just have a great time at each event. We learn a lot from each race, and keep applying this to what we have to do to get into a winning position. We also appreciate the dedication of the fans, and have fun meeting with them, talking to them, signing autographs, whatever! We've found that every fan is about as excited (or disappointed) as we are, and it's a lot of fun discussing racing with them. "

Also joining the Winston West race on Monday, September 6th, will be a Super Stock race. Preceding the race on Saturday, September 4tth, will be a drag-race, with an appearance by the legendary Shirley Muldowney. (No events are scheduled for Sunday, September 5th.) Information and ticket prices for the race are available on-line at Rocky Mountain Raceway's website, www.rmrracing.com, or by calling the track at 1-801-252-9557. ####
