Antelope-CA- Sarah Fisher continues her trek to the top-ten in championship points in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series. Fisher is currently 12th in the point race and only 68 points out of the top ten after recording her second top ten finish of the season at the NAPA AUTO PARTS 150 presented by NAPA Belts & Hose at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
The #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/ Dominos/Office Depot Chevrolet started on the inside of row four after Fisher qualified in seventh. By lap two, she had moved up a spot to sixth but lost a position by lap seven. Fisher had dropped back to twelfth by the time the first caution came out at lap 51. The first round of pit stops began with the team quick to top the #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/ Dominos/Office Depot Chevrolet with fuel and change left side tires. When the second caution came out at lap 77, the team went to work changing right side tires and making some adjustments to the car. At lap 94, Fisher had put the #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/ Dominos/Office Depot Chevrolet on the board. Fisher held off challenges from the back and finished the race in 9th.
“This was really a learning experience,” said Fisher. “I feel like I am understanding how the car handles better and better. The car got tighter and tighter as the race progressed. I had to keep adjusting the line that I drove to get the most out of the car. We had about twenty laps where it was lightly raining on the back stretch and the weather conditions seemed to change the handling. I personally want to thank the #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/ Dominos/Office Depot team. Crew chief Mario Isola and the boys at BMR gave me a great car to race at Pike Peak International Raceway. We’ll keep on the charge towards the top at the next race.”
The #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/ Dominos/Office Depot team next heads to race for the first time under the lights at California Speedway on September 2nd.
