Irwindale, Calif. - - SEPTEMBER 3, 2005 - IS BACK to SCHOOL NIGHT at the SPEEDWAY! AND THE SHOW IS A GOOD 'UN!
Beginning with:
CAR-CRUNCHING, VAN-MUNCHING, HIGH-FLYING MONSTER TRUCKS featuring the one and only BIG FOOT plus a whole bunch of his rowdy playmates: RAMINATOR RAMUNITION PATRIOT SHOCKER TUFF COUNTRY BIG DUMMY and SPIDERMAN!
King Taco Legends Cars Here's a non-news flash for you: Tom Landreth from Alta Loma has the points lead in the Legends. But here's what makes that bulletin interesting: Matt Hicks from Santee is only 16 slim little skinny points behind the multi-time divisional champ. The numbers are 398 to 382, there are two races left 100 points available That means that this is a two-man race for the 2005 class championship. At 276 points, driver Mark Gaiser from Anaheim is in third place but, even if both of the above didn't show up for the last two races, he still couldn't claim the crown. What he's got to do is run hard for his place on the annual podium and keep top rookies Lindsay King (Cherry Valley) and the last Legend event's break-through race winner Connor Cantrell (Valencia) at bay (King's got 272 points and Cantrell's got 272!). Great stuff, good racing, and a possible retirement gold watch for Landreth from the rest of the Legendnairs.
West Coast Pro Trucks With four races left to go in the 2005 championship Chris Johnson has a nice lead (60 points) but that's still not really enough for the Claremont resident to kick back and rest on his laurels. Even though Johnson has won six of the ten races run so far, Don Helgeson from Glendora has been finishing races and picking up points very efficiently at every event making the 479 to 418 points gap a tight one given the circumstances. Newberry Park's own Jeff Williams got a great start (he finished second in the first two races) had a bad race eight (0) and started working on a comeback in the last race with a solid fifth place and 42 points. For the record Jeff's got 346 going into Back-To-School-Night-2005.
