
WILTON, California -- Stockton 99 Speedway has hosted three SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout events so far this season. This coming Saturday Stockton 99 Speedway will host their fourth and final SRL event of the 2005 season. Jason Fensler has claimed victory twice on the tight quarter-mile race track so far this season. Ken Boyd won the last time the shootout ran at Stockton 99 Speedway. With nine races complete and just three to go in the 2005 season the shootout is looking for their fifth different winner as over 20 cars have pre-registered for the “California Welding Supply 100”.
Wilton, California’s Jason Fensler continues to lead the championship point standings. Two of Fensler’s five victories have come on Stockton’s historic quarter-mile racetrack. Sitting in the second position is 2004 Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year Mark Smith of Tracy, California. Smith is coming off of his first career SRL victory at Altamont Raceway & Arena. Smith has finished in the top two the last three races including a second place finish at Stockton on July 2nd. Roseville’s Eric Schmidt moved from fifth to third in the championship standings after finishing fourth at Altamont Raceway & Arena on two weeks ago. The former Stockton 99 Speedway Champion will be looking for his third career SRL victory. Ken Boyd won the SRL event at Stockton on July 2nd and remains in the fourth position ten points behind Eric Schmidt. Troy Ermish fell from third to fifth in the championship hunt after a 19th place finish at Altamont two weeks ago. Ermish has a pair of third place finishes at Stockton 99 Speedway already this season.
Harold Rieker Jr. continues to maintain the sixth position. Rieker Jr. had a disappointing run at Altamont where he finished in the 17th position. Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year point leader Jeremy Wood of Tracy, California moved up one position to seventh in the championship standings. Wood finished a career best of third at Altamont on August 20th. Joey Zampa slipped to eight in the championship hunt but only trails Wood by one point. Zampa’s best finish came at Stockton 99 Speedway on April 3rd. Tracy Bolin moved from tenth to ninth in the standings after a seventh place finish at Altamont Raceway two weeks ago. The Valley Springs, California driver is looking for his second straight top ten finish. Aaron Days finds himself back in the top ten after a strong tenth place finish at Altamont. Days has one top five and two top ten finishes at Stockton 99 Speedway this season.
Jason Fensler continues to lead the Apex Financial Group Qualifying Points. Fensler set quick time at Altamont on August 20th. Troy Ermish sits 11 points behind Fensler heading into Saturday’s race at Stockton 99 Speedway. Mark Smith is third in the standings with 16 points. $5,000 will be divided between the top three drivers in qualifying points at the end of the 2005 season. Jeremy Wood of Tracy extended his lead in the Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year point standings. The 17 year-old driver now has a 95 point lead over fellow Rookie Rusty Buholz of Palo Alto after finishing third at Altamont Raceway & Arena on August 20th. In addition to be crowned Rookie of the Year at the season ending awards banquet, the 2005 SRL Rookie of the year will be the recipient of a brand new 2005 Victory Circle Chassis. Jamie Dick, Greg Potts, Wes Banks, Harry Belletto, Charles Perreira, Ray Lawson Jr., Joey Stearns, Cory Petero, Shannon Mansch, Rick Ruzbarsky, Andrew Livengood, John Ostlund, and Chad Pais have all earned Qualifying Race Points this season.![]()
