FONTANA, California -- Standing strong in the face of adversity, Scott Lynch and the Lynch Mob Motorsports crew's tenacity paid off at Round 11 of the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series at California Speedway on September 2.
"My guys definitely don't give up," explains Lynch, who brought his Harris Trucking/Mr. Gas Dodge home in fourth place. "At one point, I really didn't think we actually had a chance of doing that well. But they just kept having me pit and making adjustments until they got it right."
Gridded in 16th place, Lynch pulled off the Startline and was able to move up a few places. "We ran about four laps before the first yellow came out and we made two pits stops for adjustments. When I went back out the second time, we were back in 23rd."
Beginning another climb forward, Lynch was still struggling with an extremely loose car. "It was really a handful to drive," he explains. "As soon as the next yellow came out, we pitted again, this time for a wedge adjustment. Slowly but surely, things were getting better, but it still wasn't right. But despite all the problems, no-one had any intention of giving up."
Pitting twice more for tires, adjustments and to fix a shock problem, Lynch began his final climb to the front knocking off 13 positions in the last forty laps. "In view of everything, I am definitely pleased with our finish and I can't say enough good things about my team's hard work and dedication. My crew chief, Robert Strmiska or June Bug as we call him was just great as was my spotter Ron Strmiska. The whole crew did an awesome job."
Retaining his point lead, Lynch also earned his 4th POWERade Power Move of the Race Award for advancing the most positions. In addition, his fourth place finish extended his string of consecutive top-five finishes this year to eight.
"Our whole team is dedicated to earning another championship," continues the Burley, Idaho native. "And with their attitude, the durability and handling of our Dodge and our Kroyer Racing engines, we have an excellent chance of achieving our goal."![]()
