TUCSON, Arizona -- Desert Diamond Night of Thrills at Tucson Raceway Park had camera crews filming the event for Belgium TV. The International Super Model, Francesca, participated in three events during the Night of Thrills for an upcoming November airing. Racing action saw defending Hornet champion, John Callans win the final race of the season, but fell just two points behind the 2005 Hornet champion, Robert Davis, who finished third in the main event. Richard Jisko claimed the second position. The Tuff Trux championship was on the line as the top three were only separated by two points. Grant Wilson was able to complete the best overall time and won the event, Bill Holt finished second and John Callans finished third. Wilson and Holt tied for the season point title, but Grant Wilson won another Tuff Trux championship based on the tiebreaker formula established by the series.
Belgium TV Super Model, Francesca and Karl Giggs teamed up to capture the Auto Soccer event. Auto Soccer is played with a giant four foot steel ball and automobiles as "teams.
Monster Trucks, Pit Bull driven by Charles Benns and Dust Devil with Jim Lyons behind the wheels gave the fans the thrills with car crushing wheels and a spectacular freestyle competition. Car crushing continued and capped the night in the 8 cylinder and 4 cylinder demolition derbies. The 8 cylinder demo was filled with bone jarring action and Roy Tripoloni captured the win. Trish Baird ended up second and Karl Griggs finished third. Crowd favorite, Jim Wilson in a 1956 Ford Sedan ended up fourth. The 4 cylinder crash feast saw David Mitchell grab the win, Christopher Mitchell ended up second and Karl Griggs finished third. Belgium TV's, Francesca, ended her visit to the United States with a fourth place finish.
Next Saturday, September 17th has Carquest presenting the Hall of Fame Night with the Super Late Models, NASCAR Late Models, Factory Stocks in a 40 lap feature, Legends, Bandoleros and Vintage Race Cars.
