FISHER TESTS RCR BUSCH CAR AT CARAWAY

WELCOME, North Carolina -- Richard Childress Racing (RCR) development driver and Drive for Diversity participant Sarah Fisher completed her second test of a NASCAR Busch Series car yesterday at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro.

The Indiana native drives the No. 20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/Domino’s/Office Depot Chevrolet in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series for Bill McAnnally Racing (BMR)/Richard Childress Racing (RCR). She is currently 12th in the season’s point standings, third in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings and is qualified for the Toyota All Star Showdown, Nov. 10-12 at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway.

“I think if you compare this test to the one in St. Louis in July, I think I’ve come a long way,” said Fisher. “We were real good with consistency and for a while were running consistently in the 17.5-second range. I definitely took in everyone’s input and felt that I was very responsive to everything. So, I think I’ve come a long way from the last time we tested together.

“The biggest difference between driving the Busch car and the West Series car is the tires, radials to bias-ply tires. The radials are a lot stiffer and are not as forgiving. They don’t give a nice cushy feel like the bias-ply tires so I haven’t found my limit yet on these.”

Fisher previously tested a Busch Series car for RCR in July at Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis.

“We ran 242 laps, which is a lot for a one-day test at a track like Caraway,” said crew chief Bobby Leslie. “We ran a lot of 25-lap runs and she was really smooth and consistent in her times. This is the second time we’ve tested with Sarah and you can see that she’s getting a better knowledge of the race car, what it needs and how it’s supposed to act. She did fine today. As always, you wish you had a second day to test but we didn’t so we tried to cram as much as we could into one day. I think she did a great job.”

Fisher is scheduled to make her next NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series start this Saturday, Sept. 17, at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Ore.####
