LEWIS TENTH IN NGNWS POINTS RACE

ANTELOPE, California -- Andrew Lewis comes home sitting tenth in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series championship point race after a disappointing finish in the NAPA 200 presented by NAPA Belts & Hose at Douglas County Speedway. The #18 Trex/ Berco Redwood /Nitro-2-Go Chevrolet started 9th on the grid and had climbed as high as seventh during the first half of the 200-lap race. After another car made contact with the #18 Trex/ Berco Redwood /Nitro-2-Go Chevrolet early in the race, Lewis began experiencing a loose condition. The BMR team with crew chief, Duane Knorr worked to correct the loose condition during the break at lap 100. After racing got back under way, Lewis continued to experience handling problems. Late in the race, the #09 of Takuma Koga spun in turn two. With nowhere to go, Lewis made contact causing damage to the radiator of the #18 Trex/ Berco Redwood /Nitro-2-Go Chevrolet. Lewis’ race was done as he pulled the car into the garage area at lap 194.

Lewis and the #18 Trex/ Berco Redwood /Nitro-2-Go are looking forward to the next NASCAR West Series race as they head to a familiar track for Lewis in Kyle, Texas. Lewis, who raced there in Legend cars, is looking for his first win in a West Series car.

“Thunder Hill Raceway is a great track,” said Lewis. “We’ve had a couple of bad races but we’re looking to turn that around in Texas. With only two races left this season, we’ve got to push ourselves harder and do our best to stay out of any trouble on the track. We’re still on track to win the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title but we’d like to gain the positions we lost in the overall standings for the finish of the season.”

The NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series next race will be at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, Texas on October 1st. The race from Douglas County Speedway, Roseburg, Oregon can be seen on SPEED Channel on October 21st at 2:30 pm PST. Check your local listings.
