HOT ROOKIE POURS ON THE HEAT IN TEXAS

KYLE, Texas -- Andrew Myers scored his second consecutive top ten and his career first top five with a fourth place finish Saturday night in the Allstate Texas Thunder 200 at Kyle Texas. Myers now sits in ninth place in series points ahead of all other rookies including Andrew Lewis and Sarah Fisher.

Myers started fifth in his Toyota of Escondido Monte Carlo. His qualifying was the first indication of what was to come as it was an improvement over any speed he had ran in the three practice sessions he had ran earlier. “My crew chiefs (Phil Bonifield and Jamie Aube) gave me a set up for qualifying that gave me the confidence to push the limits” said Myers. “Since Phil and Jamie came on board during the second race of the year I have had everything I needed to run strong.”

During the Allstate Texas Thunder 200, Myers moved up and down within the top ten. Including one stint where he fell as far back as ninth. “As a rookie when you get moved back sometimes it can rattle you. But with Phil and Jamie on the radio I just listen and let their experience drive me back toward the front. I am so proud of this team and our five top tens in the last ten races. For a rookie, this is a dream season in the NASCAR Grand National West Series,” said a very pleased Myers.

Myers and the rest of the NASCAR Grand National West teams will run their final race of the 2005 season on October 15 at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, California.####
