CARSON CITY RACEWAY CANCELS REMAINING 2005 DATES

Carson City, Nevada -- Carson City Raceway announced today that the remaining October race dates at Fuji Park have been cancelled.

“Our promotional partners are not willing to gamble on Northern Nevada weather in late October,” stated CCR owner/operator Jeb Onweiler. “Most of our racers and a lot of our fans come from central California. If we get a snowstorm up on the Sierra Mountain passes, we could end up with hardly any racers”.

“Even though we’re still enjoying some pleasant daytime temperatures, the evenings are starting to get chilly, and that’ll affect our ability to attract a strong attendance. We rolled the dice back on April 9 with our season opener and ended up presenting the show between snowstorms with temperatures down in the 30’s. With all things considered, we feel it makes more sense right now to concentrate on securing a permanent location for 2006. Until then, I’d like to thank all the racers, sponsors, fans, and staff who made our inaugural season at Carson City Raceway a great success”.

Onweiler indicated Speedway motorcycle racing has taken a strong foothold in Carson City and he hopes to expand on what’s already been established. The raceway offered exciting racing action and family oriented promotions. From the popular NAPA Kiddy Kash Dashes -- to the Xtreme SoCal Sidecars, CCR offered genuine entertainment for all fans of all ages in 2005. However Fuji Park is a multi-use facility and Onweiler hopes to secure a site where they can present racing every Saturday night (May through September) on a permanent oval.

Onweiler concluded with, “If race fans want to see Speedway, Sidecar, and Quad racing continue in 2006, then they should contact Carson City Mayor Marv Teixeira, along with Park and Recreation Executive Director Roger Moellendorf because public opinion drives political action. At this point, we need to find a permanent home, or we won’t be able to continue next year”.####
