This Saturday, October 8, 2005, San Antonio Speedway will be the place for race fans to be to catch the best drivers in Texas as they compete for top honors in their respective classes at the 9th Annual Oktober“Fast.” The stars of the Texas Super Racing Series will be opening the Saturday night show with a 75 lap feature race. As an added bonus for the fans, the SAS Late Models are also invited to run in this race as they have done in the two Twin 50 events earlier this season. If the first two joint events are any indication, this open format will continue to give San Antonio some of the best racing of the year.
Several teams in the Texas Super Racing Series are in the thick of the title chase as they prepare for the last three races this season. Currently Chris Schild is in the top spot with a total of 1288 points after his second victory of the season at Houston Motorsports Park on September 10th. Schild is closely followed by Ian Webster who is only 49 points behind. Webster is having a career season with the series this year and has been close to victory lane several times. Jeff (JP) Pollard is looking to get back to the top spot he held the first portion of the season and trails Schild by only 57 points. Another point leader this season, Lloyd Alexander, is looking for his first series season championship also and is only 68 off the pace after a bad night at HMP cost him the top spot.
Oktober“Fast” fans will also see the USRA ARTS trucks in a 50 laps feature, USRA TAMS modifieds in a 50 lap feature and USRA Super Late Models will close the evening with 125 laps of racing excitement. Oktober“Fast” tickets are only $20 for adults and $5 for children ages 7-12 while those 6 and under are free. Military personnel and their spouse are only $10. Senior race fans with a valid ID can also get in for only $10. Racing begins at 7:00 PM with gates opening at 4:00PM.
