LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Fifteen-year-old Alex Haase, of Las Vegas, set fast time and won the six-lap trophy dash during the ASA Speed Truck Challenge presented by CMKXtreme.com last Saturday, October 1, 2005 on the one-half mile Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, Calif. Piloting his Star Nursery No. 66 ASA Speed Truck to a time of 19.791 seconds, Haase duplicated his fast-time feat on half-mile tracks, having set fast time at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. earlier this season. Haase finished the 75-lap main event in sixth place, after starting tenth.
"I know how important it is to run well on these half-mile tracks," said Haase. "It helped me to get approval to run an ASA Late Model race in Indiana this past summer. I'm hoping this also helps me to get approval to run one-mile tracks when I turn 16."
In addition to Star Nursery, Haase receives support from Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Mission Industries and Kyle Busch Motorsports. Haase piloted the No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports Legends car in the ten-week Hardee's Summer Shootout Series at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC this past summer.
The 75-lap ASA Speed Truck Challenge presented by CMKXtreme.com will air on the Outdoor Channel Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 8:00 pm PST.
