Four drivers will be competing in the USAC Ford Focus Pavement series in California. While three other young drivers will race and develop in Formula Fords on California road courses like Laguna Seca, Sears Point (Infineon) and others.

A 24 driver shoot-out for the seven spots take place on October 22, 23, 29 and 30, at a track in California.

18 of the 24 drivers to test have been chosen. Driver stand outs already selected to test are:

The Ron Sutton's Winner's Circle race team is currently accepting resumes and scheduling test dates for young kart racers to try out for their driver career development program. RSWC’s 2004 driver, Bobby Grewohl, then 18, was signed last year by one of the top teams in auto racing, Chip Ganassi Racing.

Lead driver for the 2005 season, Benny Moon (20) of Shingle Springs, CA, is expected to sign with a top professional race team for 2006. In the USAC Ford Focus Midget Pavement series, Benny has four poles, two wins and a track record with RSWC. Moon is well known as a Kart Racing Champion and CART/Champ Car Formula Dodge Scholarship Winner.

Jace Meier (16) of Las Vegas, Nevada, recently won the RSWC team’s 10th race this year, and 410th race in the team’s history. Zach West (19) of Ben Lomond, CA, has three poles, two wins and three second-place finishes in the team’s Formula Fords on road courses. All 2005 RSWC drivers have come from kart racing.

The RSWC career development program, while not a for profit business, is not free. If chosen through a series of interviews and driver tests, the young racer’s family and/or sponsors, pay the racing expenses.

Ron Sutton was quoted as saying, “One of our winning test drivers last year had only modest success in karts … but really shined in our race cars with some coaching … and won a spot on our team. That same driver went on to win car races this year. We encourage all young racers with a track record of winning to apply.”

Young accomplished kart drivers … male and female … between ages 15 to 20, are encouraged to apply by e-mail. Further details will be sent, upon receipt of a young driver’s racing resume. The team is currently scheduling driver tests, and plans to announce their final driver line-up by November 15th.
