LAKEPORT SPEEDWAY HOSTS 16TH OCTOBER CLASSIC

LAKEPORT, CA-- Auto racing returns to the Lakeport Speedway on October 14_16 with the 16th running of the "KXBX October Classic." This special event will feature six divisions of race cars in a three_day format and is the biggest event of the year for the one_quarter mile paved oval located at the Lake County Fairgrounds.

The 16th annual event will include the final race of the Western States Modified Nationals, a series that also included events at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka and Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson. The modifieds will run for $2000 to win the 60 lap feature event.

The top eight points contenders in the Western States Modified Nationals will share in a $1500 points fund.

In addition, drivers running in the bomber division will not only be running for $500 to win, but they will also be entered in the Lakeport/Shasta Bomber Challenge. This series will continue at Shasta Raceway Park on October 22-23 and will also support a $1000 points fund.

Two other divisions of bombers will be running at the classic including the modified bombers and the "bonus bombers." Bonus bombers will be running on American Racer modified tires only. The Lakeport/Shasta Bomber Challengers will be using the Lakeport Speedway or the Shasta Raceway Park legal tires. Each of the three bomber 50 lap features will pay $500 to the winner.

Pro Stocks and Late Models will be combined with the winner of their 50 lap main event taking home $1000. Mini stocks and Pro-4 modifieds will be running for $500 to win. Rule and entry forms are available on the speedway website at www.lakeportspeedway.com.

The event begins on Friday afternoon with practice from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm with first round qualifying at 7:15 pm. Saturday night's show will include second round qualifying with trophy dashes and 15_20 lap qualifying races beginning at 6:30 pm. Gates open at 4:00 pm.

Sunday will see feature events only in all seven divisions. Gates open at 11:00 am with afternoon racing at 1:00 pm. Grandstand general admission is $11 with kids ages 6-11 at $5. For more information on this special event, call the speedway office at 707_274_2844.####
