Jimmy Sloan, 24, Palm Desert, Calif. Took home the 2005 Irwindale Speedway Championship Saturday.
Sloan started the race with an 18-point lead and crossed the finish line third finishing the season with a 38-point lead.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Sloan said. “My crew should be so proud of themselves.”
This season Sloan raced 14 races. He had five wins. His other finishes include two top tens, two top fives and five podium finishes.
This is only Sloan’s second year driving. He has been involved in racing for more than thirteen years.
“I have seen Jimmy grow significantly in his knowledge of the car and in his driving skill,” said crew chief Tom McMichael. “We all worked really hard for this.”
This is Sloan’s second season racing the Ruark Racing super stock. Next season he plans to race the Ruark Racing late model as a rookie.
