EL CAJON, California -- Just off a third place finish at the recent Irwindale Speedway Lucas Oil Super Late Model open comp October 1, Ron Esau is heading to Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, California for the final Super Late Model race Thursday, October 13, as the 1/2-mile turns off the lights permanently after the completion of this year’s 28th Annual October Classic weekend.

Esau has raced many times at Mesa Marin throughout the years in the NASCAR Southwest Tour and Sportsman divisions with several top-five finishes and stated Mesa Marin is still his favorite track to race.

The familiar No. 56 will compete in the NASCAR Super Late Model “FINAL 125" featured race on Thursday night starting after 7 p.m. The NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest and West Series’ races taking place on Saturday rounding out the final weekend of racing before the track closes its gates.

“My crew chief, Kevin Clark, and I have got the No. 56 Approved Memory.com, Priest Development Company Chevrolet Monte very competitive this year and we are eager to see the outcome at Mesa Marin after Irwindale’s third place finish,” said the Lakeside, California driver. “My car and two others were the only cars finishing on the lead lap at Irwindale.”

Esau, the Inaugural 1986 NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour Series and 1978 Cajon Speedway Champion, enjoyed his limited race schedule this year commenting that he is just happy to be racing this year after many years off devoting time to his business, Esau Supply (El Cajon, CA), a major supplier of doors and windows in the Southern California area for years.

Look for the No. 56 Approved Memory.com, Priest Development Company Chevrolet Monte to return to racing action in 2006.####
