MRG Motorsports gave Dodd an early Christmas present, the opportunity to run one of their Southwest Tour cars at Dodd’s favorite track this weekend for Mesa Marin’s final race.
Dodd will be in the #5 Maropoulos powered Pontiac this weekend instead of his Speed Truck. “I just couldn’t pass up this opportunity to race the SW Tour car and I get to race at Mesa one more time” said Dodd. “What a great opportunity, I am so grateful for all the help and support the MRG Motorsports team has given me.”
The Speed Trucks are scheduled to run at Orange Show Saturday night, but Dodd who is currently fourth in points decided this was the way he should head. Dodd was hoping to make his next move into the Southwest Series so this was a dream come true for him.
Dodd’s last visit to Mesa turned out to be his best finish by winning the last Speed Truck race at the track. He has always finished in the top five and has had fast time at Mesa. Hopefully he will be able to continue this streak and have a good showing for his first SW Tour race.
