SUNOCO ROOKIE TITLE WITHIN REACH FOR LEWIS

Antelope-CALIFORNIA-- NASCAR West Series driver Andrew Lewis knows what is at stake this weekend at Mesa Marin Raceway. He is not only running in the top-ten in the series chase for the championship title but also the front runner in the chase for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title. The race is close but after leading in the points for most of the season, Lewis needs only to be the third highest finishing rookie to secure the title.

“Mesa Marin is one of my favorite tracks,” said Lewis. “We finished here in the top ten this past spring. Since that, the ##18 Trex/ Berco Redwood /Nitro-2-Go team has really come together with our crew chief Duane Knorr taking the lead. It’s been a great rookie season and I can’t thank BMR enough for putting together such great cars all season long.”

“I know what it takes to win at Mesa Marin. In 2003, I was two-for-two in the win column in the ASA Speed Trucks Challenge. I wouldn’t mind bringing home our first NASCAR West Series win at Mesa Marin. With the track closing, this is our last opportunity to do so. The #18 Trex/ Berco Redwood /Nitro-2-Go Chevrolet team will give it our best.”

The Ford Motorcraft 150 presented by 3M will run on Saturday, October 15th following the NASCAR Southwest Series race and will be televised live on HDNet at 8:30 pm PST. The race will be shown in an enhanced replay on November 11 at noon PST. Check your local listings.
