ANTELOPE, California -- NASCAR West Series driver Sarah Fisher recorded her fourth top-ten finish competing in the Ford Motorcraft Parts 150 presented by 3M. The race was part of the final October Classic Weekend at the historic Mesa Marin Raceway. Fisher ends the season running in 12th in the chase for the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series title and makes her eligible to compete in the 3rd Annual NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway.
Fisher, pilot of #20 NASCAR Select by NAPA Filters/Domino’s/Office Depot Chevrolet struggled to get the right setup during the first two practices. She spun on her first qualifying lap and still put the car 17th on the grid of the 36 entries. With 28 cars starting, Fisher and the team put their strategy in motion. During the fifth caution of eleven, most of the field came in to the pits and Fisher and seven others stayed out on the track. This moved Fisher from tenth to fourth at the restart at lap 111. At lap 117, Fisher lost a position to the #61 of Brett Thompson. After a restart at lap 133, Fisher had moved back to tenth as her BMR teammate, Steve Portenga got passed her as well as the series point leader, Scott Lynch. As the final laps took place, Fisher would gain three positions back in the heavy traffic and complete the race with a green-white-checkered finish in seventh.
The Ford Motorcraft 150 presented by 3M will be shown in an enhanced replay on November 11 at noon PST. Check your local listings.
