BAKERSFIELD, Claifornia -- Eric Humphries and his # 25 T.O.E Performance Ford /Red Line Oil team were able to bring home an eleventh place finish in a full field of twenty-eight cars. With only two NASCAR Grand National Division - West Series starts under his belt, Humphries has an impressive resume, with a seventh place finish and an eleventh place finish.
At the final 28th Annual October Classic at Bakersfield’s Mesa Marin Raceway, Humphries had a very busy day. During second practice, the # 25 T.O.E Performance Ford /Red Line Oil team were able to post the tenth quickest time. Humphries qualifying effort gave him a time of 19.522 seconds on his second lap, guaranteeing him a starting spot of 16th. As the 150-lap race began under the watchful eye of HDNet viewers and a packed house, Humphries escaped the first few cautions undamaged. On lap ninety-one, caution came out for a spin in turn four, giving Humphries the opportunity to bring the # 25 Ford down pit road. The T.O.E team made some chassis changes, along with two, fresh right-side tires. When racing started again on lap 105, Humphries tangled with another car, causing him to spin in turn two and bringing out the caution. After coming back down pit road, the # 25 T.O.E Performance Ford /Red Line Oil team came back onto the track one lap down. When the yellow flew again on lap 114 for a spin, Humphries was the first car a lap down, and so he was the recipient of the lucky dog award. When racing resumed on lap 117, Humphries was on the lead lap in twenty-second position. Humphries thundered back in the last part of the race, climbing into the 10th position when the last caution came out. When the green flag flew for the final time at Mesa Marin, everyone made a mad dash for the front. Humphries was able to hold onto the eleventh position and got the checker flag at Mesa Marin Raceway.
“Thanks to my # 25 T.O.E Performance Ford /Red Line Oil team for preparing a great car this weekend,” Humphries Said. “We had many things on the track that didn’t work to our favor. The first half of the race our car was running middle of the pack, but after some changes in the pits, we had a quick car to make a dash for the finish. I wish I could have given my team a better run, but finishing on the lead lap was a great achievement. Thanks for to all my friends and family that came this weekend to give me support, especially Mom, Dad and Scott”
