Scott Gaylord of Lakewood, Colo., in the Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet, finished fifth in the Ford Motorcraft Parts 150 presented by 3M as the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series closed out its season at Mesa Marin Raceway on Saturday.
The race marked the final event at the popular high-banked half-mile paved oval, which opened in 1977. Scott raced at Mesa Marin many times over the race track's 28-year history, including enjoying his first-ever race-leading lap and a strong second-place finish in another hotly contested race. Gaylord earned three top five finishes and six top 10 finishes this year.
In the championship final standings, Gaylord finished seventh, making it his 11th top-10 finish in the series. Scott could never have enjoyed such success without the fantastic support from his long-time sponsor Oliver Gravity Separators.
Scott would like to thank his all-volunteer crew for sacrificing their weekends and taking time off work to make the car so competitive. He would also like to thank Geoff Burney and Oliver Gravity Separators for their 16 years of support in the NASCAR Grand National West. It's a wonderful partnership that is very rare in this fast-paced, ever-changing business. Scott also would like to thank the Denver Seminary for their enthusiastic support over the past several years. He also appreciates the help of Annie Bonvouloir at Sign Edge for supplying great graphics.
Gaylord has been invited for the third time to compete in the third annual NASCAR
Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway Nov. 10-12. The event will award nearly $500,000 to competitors and will be televised live on NASCAR TV on
SPEED Channel.![]()
