
(September 8, 2005, SAN BERNARDINO, CA)- The season long ASA Super Late Model Championship has come down to the one remaining event of the year this Saturday night at Orange Show Speedway’s tight ¼ -mile oval. The ASA Sport Trucks, the NMRA T.Q. Midgets and the vintage car WRA group fill out the racing as well.
John Manke, Ramona and Ron Overman, Lakeside have waged a torrid battle all season for the top spot in the ASA Super Late Model division trading the lead back in forth each week with no points now separating them with a tie at 478 points each for the Championship. While these two former Cajon Speedway competitors dominate the division, Jeff Thompson, also from Lakeside and fellow Lakeside resident Rick Chavez are also tied for the third spot in the point standings. Chavez has won the last two main events and could make it three in row this Saturday. David Eshleman, the former Mayor of Fontana, is next with 340 points and Dee Cable, the first lady of Super Late Models sit behind Eshelman with 336 points.
In the ASA Sport Truck division teenager Spencer Samara holds a fourteen-point lead over Ed Reid, who is tied with Jim Belter in second place at 380 points. Eduardo Garcia is behind Reid and Belter at 366 points coming into the final ASA Sport Truck event of 2005.
Spectator gates open at 5:00 pm and racing action gets underway at 6:30 pm. Admission will be $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for seniors & military, $2.00 for juniors 6 to 12 and children under 5 are FREE.
Orange Show Speedway is conveniently located on the NOS Events Center, home of the National Orange Show Festival in San Bernardino, California. Take the 215 freeway, exit at the Orange Show Road and go north on E Street approximately one half mile to Mill Street.
