MARTINSVILLE, VA -- Led by Rick Crawford, eight drivers broke the track record Friday afternoon in qualifying for the Kroger 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway.

Crawford led the charge to win the pole with a lap of 19.732 seconds (95.966 mph) in a Ford. It was Crawford's second pole of the season and the fourth of his career. The old mark was 95.098 mph, set by Bobby Hamilton last spring.

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series interloper Kyle Busch nailed down the second spot, followed by Tim Fedewa and Brandon Whitt.

Craftsman Truck Series points leader Dennis Setzer was the fifth fastest, while Ted Musgrave, who is five points behind Setzer in the championship chase, qualified seventh. Last year's series' champion Bobby Hamilton will start sixth.

Rookie Timothy Peters, who won a Late Model Stock car race at Martinsville two weeks ago, qualified eighth, the highest qualifying rookie.

The Kroger 200 is set to take the green flag at 1:15 Saturday. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at the gate.####
