Mexico City, Mexico –-TELMEX Racing announced today that they would be entering drivers Rogelio Lopez and Ruben Pardo in the upcoming PEPSI 100 NASCAR Busch North Series event at Thompson International Speedway scheduled for Saturday October 29, 2005.

This event marks the fifth Busch North Series event for Lopez who posted one top ten, two top fifteen finishes and eighth place qualifying position coming this year at Dover. Lopez, one of Mexico’s racing super stars competes on a full time basis in Defasio Corona, which showcases full-bodied stock car racing themed after NASCAR. Presently he is second in the points after eleven of fourteen events.

Pardo on the other hand will be making his first Busch North Series start at Thompson. Like Lopez, Pardo also competes in Defasio Corona. Pardo comes into this event on an emotional high after posting his first win of the season since being sidelined for most of this year due to injuries he sustained in an earlier racing accident.

TELMEX Racing has selected the Busch North Series as part of a strategic Mexican driver development program. After three years of operation, TELMEX Racing has identified a pool of Mexican drivers that now compete at National and International racetracks through a concept called “stairway”. The “stairway” concept starts from competitive series’ such as the Barber Dodge Formula, German BMW Formula, British Formula 3, Atlantic Formula, Italian Renault, Formula Renault V, Formula, Champ Car and the Daytona Prototypes of the Grand American Road Series. This concept has attributed to the experience gained by national stand out drivers such as Jimmy Morales and Adrian Fernandez, and the energy and talent of young drivers that have been increasing their development thanks to the support of TELMEX Racing.

Among others, TELMEX Racing enlists drivers such as Luis “Chapulin” Diaz and Salvador “Chava” Duran (British Formula 3), Sergio “Checo” Perez in the German BMW Formula, Pablo Sanchez in the Barber Dodge, as well as Mara Reyes and Rogelio Lopez, that this season are representing the TELMEX Racing colors in the Stock cars of Defasio Corona. Furthermore, the TELMEX Racing Team has had significant drivers such as the brothers Carlos and Ruben Pardo, Guillermo “Memo” Rojas, Luis Javier Pelayo and Piero Rodarte, among others. The TELMEX RACING Team’s commitment is in the long run and keeps working day by day in order to get the name of Mexico in the highest steps of the podiums of the motorsports around the World.
