NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES 2006 SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-- The 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule was announced today, a 25-race slate beginning at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, Feb. 17 and ending on Friday, Nov. 17 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The schedule consists of 25 events for the fourth consecutive season and includes a Saturday, Oct. 7 inaugural race at Talladega Superspeedway which, at 2.66 miles in length, will become the largest track on which the series has competed.

The race also marks the first time the series has appeared in the state of Alabama.

The remainder of the schedule closely parallels that of 2005 with one exception.

Next season, Mansfield Motorsports Speedway’s race will be held on Saturday, May 27. It will now follow, rather than precede, the Friday, May 19 race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway that is held in combination with the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge.

The series’ 12th season will see competitors visit 22 tracks in 19 states. Three tracks – Atlanta Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway – will host a pair of events as they did in 2005.

Fifteen events will be held on the same weekend/track in combination with the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series. Two additional races will be paired with the NASCAR Busch Series. Tripleheader weekends – NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – will take place at nine tracks in 2006.
