Notes Of Interest:
The next two events will be learning experiences for Scott Lynch. Lynch, who has plenty of speedway experience in NASCAR West cars at California Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway, will make back-to-back starts at new venues for him this week at Atlanta and next week at Texas Motor Speedway.
The Orleans Racing team will give Lynch plenty of support with crew chief Charlie Wilson, who worked with Lynch when the pair took the NASCAR West Championship in 2004.
Lynch on the EasyCare Vehicle Service 200:
YOU WILL HAVE A BIG CHALLENGE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS NEVER HAVING RACED AT ATLANTA OR TEXAS. – “Yeah, most definitely. Of any of the tracks that make me nervous these would be the two right here since I lack a lot of experience on this type of track. I’ve been successful in Fontana and Las Vegas. I know they’re a little bit different but at least I have some good speedway experience to bring to these tracks.”
WHAT IS YOUR MINDSET GOING INTO TRACKS LIKE THESE? – “To learn. That’s the biggest thing. These trucks push so much air and it’s a lot different than a car at a speedway. It’s good to get behind somebody with some good experience to show you the lines especially since I haven’t ever been there before. You just kind of take your time and work on the speed there. You don’t want to go out there and make a mistake right off the bat. You want to give yourself a good chance to get some good laps in and hopefully show what you can do.”
ARE YOU HAVING FUN SO FAR? – “Oh, it’s been a blast. Brendan and Mr. Gaughan have given me the greatest opportunity I’ve had yet to date to try and prove myself and find a ride with another team next year. Again, you have to be patient just do the absolute best that you can and drive your heart out. That’s all you can do.”
HAVE YOU TALKED TO ANY OF THE OTHER DRIVERS HERE YET? – “No, not really. There are a few of them that I kind of knew. I’ve talked to David Reutimann quite a bit before. I’ve gone by and said ‘Hi’ to a few teams but I’m just really trying to stay focused on what I’m doing here.”
