Four-time Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500 winner A. J. Foyt’s teams regularly campaign the number 14 in NASCAR races. But for the upcoming Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway, Andrew Myers and his Toyota of Escondido Monte Carlo will honor the racing legend by changing from their familiar #44 to Foyt’s #14.
“NASCAR had so many entries for the race that some teams had to use different numbers explained Myers. When we found out we couldn’t use our #44 we looked for something that we could make a statement with for this big event. We couldn’t believe our luck when we found out we were able to use the #14. A.J. is a hero to most racers and to use his number was just what we were looking for. Phil Bonifield and Jamie Aube have worked hard to teach me to be an old-school style racer and using this #14 is a tribute to them too. I am just looking forward to running it hard and up front like A.J. would.”
