HUNINGTON BEACH, California -- Andrew Myers received the Driver Achievement Award for the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series during a special awards ceremony at The Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev., on Saturday. This award acknowledged the young drivers top finishes over the course of the season verses the series top teams.
The award was not announced prior to the banquet so consequently; Myers’s acceptance speech on stage was brief and unrehearsed. But once the misty eyed driver was back stage with his family and crewmembers, Myers did something very special; he dedicated the award to three special “dads" he had this season. Myers said, “This award goes to my three racing dads; my father Gary and my co-crew chiefs Phil Bonifield and Jamie Aube. I can’t forget what my mom has done for me but these three guys gave me so much this year, I have to say that I had the year I had because of them.”
Myers also revealed that it would not be long before he is once again in a racecar. “Our team will be at Daytona next week for the ACRA test. Phil and Jamie have secured a Superspeedway Monte Carlo for me to test and if all goes well, we will be racing the ACRA event at Daytona in February.”
In a final sad note from the Myers team, co-crew chief Jamie Aube’s father
passed away on Saturday of natural causes. Raymond Aube was 84. The
